There is some irony in me writing this blog right now, as we are child free! The girls have gone for a week’s holiday with Nana & Grandad in Norfolk.  Out of the three days they have been gone we have spent two of those evenings in the pub.

The summer holidays are here!  My favourite time of the year; when we are full to the brim at Little Winnick, and I get to have our girls at home for the whole summer. I am going to bring you a series of blogs that look at things that will not break the bank but that will also keep everyone entertained.

Howdy Campers, I feel very self-indulgent; let me set the scene for you, any parent, especially those with toddlers will know alone time is rare!  One day a week my mother in law has Anna whilst the bigger two are at school. So here I am, child free, dishes done, warm tea in hand with radio in the back ground, typing away…bliss!

We are loving August, in fact we are loving this summer.  I think when we are a bit greyer and a bit older we will hold 2018 up there as one of the great summers; that seemed to last forever with humid days and warm evenings.

It is back!  This Sunday sees the return of the much anticipated fourth series of Poldark.  The highly acclaimed drama is shot across Cornwall; we may have even spent a few long lunches trying to spy Ross Poldark when they were last in Charlestown!

This weekend we welcome a much longed for Bank Holiday and it might, just maybe, even be sunny!  We are excited as our family and friends come to stay for the weekend, and many guests arrive at Little Winnick – the fridge is full and the drinks are already on ice so what does a good bank holiday mean for you?

Hi-de-hi Campers – the 2018 season is well and truly underway and we are very pleased to be welcoming new and returning guests back to our little slice of heaven.  Now to be fair, it didn’t look that heavenly over Easter – the wild, wet weather left us battered and bruised.

Mike, our lovely warden has inspired this weeks blog because, yes you have guessed it, he has broken his leg.  He is fine and in good spirits, just very, very frustrated he cannot be out and about cutting his rather lovely stripes in the grass which he has been so proud of all season and which we have come to love and admire.

So let’s be honest.  August is yet to provide the wall to wall sunshine the weather people had promised.  So to help you out, here are our top 5 things to do in the rain – I am hoping that by writing it I will start a heatwave and you will not need it…

Last night our friends at The Lost Gardens of Heligan kindly gave us tickets to see The Rogue Theatre’s latest offering – The Lost Garden Summer Ball.  Cue two very excited little girls who had their fairy and angel dresses laid out ready all week, and every evening we have practised the face painting to perfect our look…
