Famous Faces

Did you see us on the BBC news and quoted in papers as far away as Chicago?  A very random day led to us bumping into Boris Johnson and his ‘Battle Bus’. On our day off we were on an adventure to see if they were still filming for the BBC drama Taboo in Charlestown, we turned the corner and parked in a small lane was a big red bus…

The Full Story:

Richard said to me ‘what idiot would park a bus in such a small lane?’ – well it would appear Boris would!   We got out for a walk and next thing John Pienaar from BBC News was interviewing us.  It was a surreal experience and sadly we didn’t have our work tops on to promote the business.  Autographs are available when you check in!

So the sun has graced us with the most amazing week.  It has been glorious; we have had the barbecue and pizza oven on throughout the weekend in the garden and we have been to the beach, played by the river and visited one of Cornwall’s finest houses.

Last week we took the girls to Readymoney Cove in Fowey.  One of my favourite small coves it is a real sun trap and very safe for families.  Drive into Fowey – following the signs to Readymoney Cove car park then follow the short walk down to the Cove.  It is a steady hill down but worth it.  The cove has toilets and a view out onto the Fowey Estuary.  It is quiet and tranquil.

We also have had a wonderful day at Lerryn.  The small village is magical.  Take the road towards Lostwithiel, once through the village turn off the road marked for Lerryn.  The quintessential Cornish village is stunning.  With a small well stocked shop you can enjoy pasties right next to the river and even cross the river on the stepping stones that lead across to the other bank.  The sleepy village is a real find, you could spend all day soaking up the sun on the small green and watching the comings and goings of the village.  There is a free car park and toilets.

We also went to Bocconoc House.  The estate is open for tours and charity garden events and well worth a visit.  Given the estate was overgrown until 15 years ago the current family have worked wonders in bringing this gem back to life, the grounds are very impressive and delightful at this time of year with much in bloom.

Talking of gardens – we have now teamed up with Heligan and are pleased to offer tickets for sale in reception – By buying from us you save 25% off the ticket price – please pop into reception for tickets.
