Here’s our top 5 places to visit with toddlers:
- The Lost Gardens of Heligan – Our children love running freely around Heligan – whether you come during the holiday or throughout the year there is always so much to interest and entertain. Strangely our noisy 2 year old loves the quiet bird hide – trying to spot the resident pheasant. It seems the birds are used to noisy little people and are pretty unphased. The cafe is so child friendly with highchairs and areas where you can take your own food.
- Jungle Jacks – On the whole, we hate soft play establishments and avoid them like the plague, however Jungle Jacks is a little bit special. It is very well laid out, it is not huge so you don’t lose your children and it has a lovely very well-priced cafe. A large jug of squash with as many cups as you like is £1 and there is a brilliant selection of freshly cooked food. It is worth noting you are not permitted to take in your own food and drink.
- Cardinham Woods – whether you fancy a long walk, a short walk, a bike ride, a barbecue or just a play area and a coffee Cardinham Woods has a lot of offer for families of all ages and walking/cycling abilities. The shortest walk is pretty flat and ideal for little legs who might like to balance bike their way around. The bribe of an ice cream at the end of the circular route usually helps tired legs. There is a small charge for parking, and excellent toilets.
- Porthpean Beach – children love exploring the beach no matter what time of year it is. Porthpean is ideal for families, a small cove
with lovely rock pools to explore at low tide and great for paddling in. We can be found there throughout the year attempting to catch the elusive crabs! Plenty of parking and a seasonal cafe. Toilets open daily. - Charlestown – a latest favourite family day out. Enjoy lunch in the very child-friendly Longstore – with sea views and amazing food you will not be disappointed. We forgo pudding, but instead head to the Tallships Creamy – a tiny little ice cream shop that sells toddler ice cream cones for £1. Perfectly sized for little hands and mouths. Just Monday we enjoyed lunch there followed by an ice – cream and an exploration of the beach, perfect no matter what time of year it is
We are busy busy busy down at the site at the moment. Richard is working hard to pick up the rest of the leaves from around the park and the swimming pool is now filled in which is a very exciting new chapter for us.
