We love it here all year round.. but early summer at Little Winnick might be our favourite!
Craving a peaceful escape to Cornwall before the height of summer? Looking for a weekend away but without the bustle of a super-busy site with a clubhouse? Let us remind you that June and early July are a truly special time to visit Little Winnick.
Tucked into the heart of the Pentewan Valley with direct access to woodland trails and close to the coast, our site becomes a haven for those seeking nature, tranquillity, and gentle adventure. All without the crowds.
The weather is often kind during these early summer weeks. Days are long and warm, perfect for exploring the outdoors or simply relaxing with a book under the trees. Morning dew gives way to sunshine, and the evenings are ideal for barbecues and stargazing. And no visit is complete without a stroll along the Pentewan Trail. Without the hustle and bustle of peak season, there’s a slower, more restorative pace to life here, and it suits couples, solo travellers, and dog owners beautifully.
Surrounded by nature
You only have to step into our dog-walking meadow (tucked at the end of the site behind the safari tents) to see one of the very best reasons why. One of the joys of visiting at this time of year is the abundance of wildflowers in bloom. Hedgerows and the Pentewan Trail are painted with the bright colours of foxgloves, red campion, oxeye daisies, and bright purple knapweed. The woods are alive with the scent of honeysuckle and elderflower, and butterflies will keep you company as you walk the footpaths.
Whether you’re heading down to Pentewan Beach, venturing further along the South West Coast Path, or discovering a new circular walk through the surrounding countryside, the landscapes feel especially alive in early summer.
You’ll also find local attractions, beaches, and village cafés more relaxed and spacious. There’s time to linger, chat with locals, and enjoy Cornwall without queueing or crowding. Mevagissey, Charlestown, Porthpean, and St Austell Bay are all within easy reach and make for lovely half-day adventures.
Cream tea on the beach?
And of course Heidi now has Manor Made on the beach at Carlyon Bay. What better way to pause a circular walk from Charlestown than with a luxurious cream tea on the beach!
Later in July, Little Winnick becomes a popular base for school holiday stays, with happy families filling the site, many of whom return year after yeae. But before that, we urge you to enjoy this peaceful window of early summer, where the birdsong takes centre stage, the pace is gentle, and our welcome is just as warm.
Cornwall can be at her best in early summer. So if you enjoy uncrowded trails, quiet beaches, and the freedom to explore at your own rhythm, June and early July might just be the perfect time to stay.
