Here we are the end of the 2016 season.  Today is the very last day of our season, we are just waiting say good bye to the last of our guests then we will close the door (and gates) on 2016.  What a year it has been.
The End
Without doubt, Autumn is our favourite season.  Cornwall takes on the most amazing feeling, with long, lazy days, but with slightly less traffic on the roads and beaches almost deserted.

Last night we had the pleasure of enjoying Cornwall at its best; a long warm summers evening, down in the small village harbour of Gorran Haven eating fish and chips.  The beautiful harbour has long been talked about in our family as a great place for tea and a treat, yet we had never made it down there.

When in Cornwall it is without doubt rude not to try a pasty…or two.  We take great pride in trying to find the best pasty of them all, and this week with friends visiting we sent them off with one soul aim; to bring us home an ‘Ann’s Pasty’ from the Lizard.

Last night we were lucky enough to witness  a pretty spectacular shooting star display down on the beach.  We could have been anywhere in the world.  It was warm, the food was amazing, the drinks were flowing.

So today is the 1st August and it is raining.  It is only meant to be full on rain today then odd showers this week.  But guess what our main topic of conversation is this morning – the weather.
The End
So the peak season is upon us.  It is a mad six weeks when we are full to the bream, Richard and I speak to each other only as we change over shifts and that is about it and we lay in bed praying and hoping for sun for everyone.

Through the summer we are also running weekly ‘Camp Craft’ sessions.  These centre around the camp fire where young people from 2-16 can learn how to light fires, build dens, forage in the meadow, wild craft and games and much more.

According to one guest Little Winnick performs a bit of ‘magic’ on children!  As a family returned for their second stay of the year their youngest learnt to ride her bike, after her sister did the same a month earlier.
Magic
Here at Little Winnick we have two young daughters who are at the heart of everything we do at home, and over the last winter we spent an awful lot of time thinking about how we could instill these values into Little Winnick even more…
